Weekly catch-up

I've been doing very well this week. 4 days in a row where I haven't spent a dime! *happy dance*

Otherwise life is ok. I spent Monday and some of Tuesday catching up on season 5 of True Blood. I don't normally get HBO so that was a bit of a treat. I'm trying out Game of Thrones now, so far it isn't bad, but I find it hard to keep track of everyone's names and where they're from and their rank/royalty. It's interesting though. So far I'm on episode 3 of the first season and there are 2 seasons to get through. I'm not sure if I will be able to watch all of both seasons before Sunday. Maybe. Does anyone know if this show is on Netflix or anything?

As far as the dating game goes, I have stopped seeing the guy I was talking about around the time of my birthday. Things just never went anywhere, or seemed that they would. I was driving over an hour to see him and all we would ever do is go to his favorite local bar. Anytime I suggested something different he'd scoff at it. It just didn't feel right, so I broke it off. Not that there was much to break off in the first place, because we weren't even an actual couple. It had barely been a month. I've gone on a few dates since and nothing has come of any of them. That's okay though, it was a reason to get out and meet someone new, even if it never went anywhere. I don't need a boyfriend, but I must admit it would be nice. I do want someone to care about and in return someone to care about me. I have my family of course, but it's just not the same.

Anyway enough about that business. Tomorrow is Good Friday and my Mom is treating me to lunch at my favorite Vietnamese place as a late birthday gift. Yay!

No spend day!

I woke up to the unexpected and unpleasant surprise of snow this morning. So, I decided today would be a great day to catch up on the last season of True Blood and not spend any money. So far, up to episode 4.

Spendy Sunday

Made a trip to CVS today for some essentials. I know things are probably a bit cheaper at Target or Walmart, but those stores leave too much opportunity for random impulse purchases that I really do not need. CVS, because I used to work there, does not. I just want to get in and get out.

Sunday
CVS: $30.61
(toothbrush, razors, a new hairbrush, face-wipes...etc.)

Now...back to watching Bar Rescue, my current tv addiction.

No spend Saturday!!

Didn't spend a dime today. Go me.

Saturday

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Dammit!

I think I need a filter for my internet browser because I just spent $30 on tees from Threadless. Why am I having so much trouble with this not shopping business a second time around?

Oh wait. I know. I'm bored.

I really need to start working again, or find a new hobby, or something. Anything to keep me busy and off the damn internet for any other reason than job hunting and emails. This just boredom surfing leads to bad bad things. At least I can check Facebook from my phone. I know I won't use Amazon or anything else on it because I'm too damn lazy to figure it out.

Sigh.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Happy hump day!!

It's the middle of the week so I figured I would update.

Monday
No spending!

Tuesday
No spending!

Wednesday
Giant: $21.54
Unjury: $28.16
(it's a protein supplement my nutritionist recommended, I ordered their sampler pack)
Threadless Tees: $14.99
(a really awesome geisha tee that was on sale, I know I shouldn't have, but it was too cute)

I'm actually starting a new meal plan as of this week. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis (aka slow stomach emptying) recently and according to the nutritionist I saw there's a lot of foods I shouldn't be eating because they just sit in my gut like rocks and by the time they're digested they're worth nothing nutritionally. So yeah, that's fun. I get to miss out on basically all fruit except bananas and anything canned (ick! that's gonna take some palate training) and a lot of veggies that I really like. Not eating hummus is going to be especially hard because I love it. Thankfully all meats, seafood, pastas (really any white carbs), and fats are okay. I'm so used to eating what I want when I want it that this is definitely going to take some getting used to. Hmm.. maybe next I'll start a food blog?

Anyway that's all she wrote for today.

Happy birthday to me!

I figured I wasn't going to bother posting today, but here I am anyway. I haven't spent any money today, so that's always a plus. My birthday is going well, if not a bit boring. Mostly I've spent the day just hanging out at home. Last night I went out with the dude in New Freedom and had some drinks. I even had a shot of something green. I forget the name of it though, possibly the Incredible Hulk? It had Hypnotiq and Hennessey or something. Surprisingly it wasn't so bad. Normally I'm not a shots person anymore. But it was for my birthday so what the hell, right?

I didn't wake up with the hangover I expected, which is totally wonderful. My mom made me enchiladas for dinner and I have some raspberry cheesecake waiting in the fridge. I really wanted to get to Pho Bistro today, but I'll go sometime this week for my fix. I can't believe I've lived here for almost 3 months now and still haven't gone. That's just a tragedy. I need my Bun Nem Nuong and spring rolls! A bowl of pho would be nice, too.

Anyway, onto the (lack of) spending!

Sunday
$0

Hurray!

And again...Happy St. Patrick's Day. Get out your green!

Weekend update

It's Saturday. And St. Patrick's Day weekend. And my birthday weekend. And a good friend's birthday is today. It's just so action packed. Yet somewhere in the middle of all that I managed to get out and get groceries. Gas, too.

Friday
Target: $14.71
(a long sleeve shirt to wear under a dress and a replacement lint roller)

Saturday
Giant: $60
gas: $40.01

Another $100 down the drain. But a girl's gotta eat and go places so I guess it's still money well spent.

I probably won't bother to post tomorrow, because I'm planning on having quite the hangover and doing pretty much nothing. So, happy birthday to me and happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone else!

Daily tracking

So today I had to make a trip to Ulta. That store is seriously dangerous. There is so much makeup and skincare products...perfume and body washes.. A girl could get stuck in that black hole for hours, let me tell you. Anyway, I needed some more face wash. And of course the brand that works best for me is not cheap, or available outside Ulta or Sephora.

Thursday
Ulta: $79.50
(face wash and a purifying mask...both Dermalogica)
I also got a free gift with my purchase, which for once is products I will actually use. Hooray.

Tomorrow I am hoping for a no-spend day. Saturday too. Possibly even Sunday and we'll make it an entire no-spend weekend. I would love that.

Also, with my birthday coming up on Sunday I'm expecting some cash in the mail from my grandma. So at least today's splurge will technically be repaid back to my bank account (plus some, hopefully) in a couple of days.

So that about covers it for the week up until today. Right on.

Weekend kickoff

It's Saturday everyone! You knew already? Ok sorry. Moving along..

I had to cancel my friend date for tonight, which always makes me sad. I woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus. Explodey sinuses, runny nose, sore throat, dry cough.. the whole shebang. So I guess it's gonna be Zicam, Mucinex, hot tea with honey, and pajamas for the rest of the weekend. I'm ok with that, I suppose. I guess I have to be if I want to get better. I've learned the hard way in the past that just running around through the sickness usually makes it last longer. Or it gets worse.

Anyway, onto the spending. Or rather, the lack thereof.

Friday
No spending!!!

I did have a kickass dinner with my parents though, at this bar called Scozzaro's. They have truffle balsamic chips that are so to die for. The plantain and scallop curry I had was also pretty amazing. I could eat there every day, I think. Or at least once a week.

My bills

I suppose some people out there might be wondering why I don't post about my bills on here. Of course I have bills (cell phone, credit cards, car insurance, Atti's dog insurance, Netflix, etc.) but that's not what this blog is about. This blog is about the extra spending. Plus, I don't know if I really like the idea of my bills and finances to be on display like that. It feels just a touch too personal.

Hope you understand.

Also.. Happy Friday!

Daily tracking

Every day I think I'm not going to spend money, I end up spending. I guess I'm just not very good at this as a second time around. But anyway, here goes..

Wednesday
Victoria's Secret: $5.80
(I exchanged a bra and got underwear to match it)
Hot Topic: $55.64
(bought a cute dress and necklace for my upcoming birthday night)

Thursday
No spending! Finally!
::rejoices::

Now if only I can keep this going. Well.. I know Saturday I won't because I'm meeting up with a friend for dinner, drinks, and a movie. Yay for friend dates. We haven't seen each other since before Christmas so there's definitely some catching up to do. But, I will try to keep the spending to a minimum.

Daily tracking

I ended up going to the grocery store yesterday, not so much for the impending snow, but because I really just needed food. Sometimes that happens, ya know? Anyway the store was mega-crowded and totally picked through, but I managed to get some good stuff anyway. Now, onto the finances!

Tuesday
Giant: $98
gas: $35
(I know I just got gas on Monday too but I decided to fill up and use my $0.10/gallon off before it expires)

Went out for tacos and beer last night too. Lucky for me, I did not have to pay. Yay for nice guys that treat me to tacos. I like them. Or him, namely. We've only been dating for about a week but I'm having a good feeling about this one. ::fingers crossed::

And to anyone who has it...enjoy the snow!

Monday, March 4, 2013

Daily tracking

Ended up realizing I have an early doctor appointment tomorrow so I decided to go out and fill up the truck so I don't have to do it while I'm on the way.

Monday
gas: $30.06

Tomorrow is going to be a doctor visit filled day, so I doubt I'm going to be able to spend any money. Which is a good thing!

Sunday, March 3, 2013

Someone, please smack my hand.

Or at the very least block me from looking at stuff on Amazon. That site is so sneaky with its suggestions of things I may like. I am bad and I broke my own rule about shopping and ordered myself a new cell phone case. Granted, it is super cute and was not very pricey. But still. I didn't need it. I guess I will consider it my birthday gift to myself, which I will allow. I kind of have to anyway...the thing's already been paid for.

Sunday
Amazon: $20.93
(cell phone case + shipping)

Ok. From here on out I am promising myself I will be better.

Tomorrow is a new day.

The countdown begins

It's two weeks until my birthday. This year we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of my 21st birthday. I have no idea what I want to do yet. Most likely there will be a dinner with my parents, because that usually happens every year. Besides that, no idea.

Any suggestions?

So much for not spending.

I ended up having to go to the grocery store today. I ran out of iced tea, and that just simply will not do. I also ended up buying two avocados to make guacamole. All in all I spent less than $6.

Sunday
Giant: $5.67

Not so bad, right? Everybody's gotta eat.

No-spend Sunday

I'm pretty sure today will be a no-spend day. Hopefully tomorrow will too.

Lazy Sunday, commence!

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Daily tracking

It's Saturday. Of course that's the day most people choose to run their errands, and I am no exception. So here it is. My first post about spending.

Saturday
Target: $16.25
(a tank top, candle, and hand soap refill)
lunch: $5.29
(a burrito from Fiesta Burrito Bar. NOMS!)

Hopefully the burrito is good, considering I haven't tried this place before.

Happy Saturday!

And she's back!

Hello there!

After a few years of hiatus, I am back! I have decided to stop the shopping a second time, in order to gain better control of my finances. One major plus right now is that I'm temporarily staying with my parents, so I don't have any rent or utilities to pay. But I still need to be saving, so I can get outta here again someday, haha. Currently I'm living off unemployment, but I'm in the job search process.  It's an ongoing, tiresome affair.

I met with a recruiter at JFC Staffing this past week and he said he has some promising leads for me, he just needed a few days to get my portfolio ready to show his clients. Hopefully I will be hearing some positive news in the coming weeks. It seems that the skills I gained in the medical records department of my last job will be a huge asset, because a lot of practices are turning to electronic medical records now.

Anyway, it's pretty early in the morning so there's no spending for me to speak of. Yet.

Stopping the shopping begins again TODAY!!
